I know most Kenyans would want to know which between Jubilee and ODM parties has more wealth. Well, the two parties are in two different categories-they are simply incomparable.
We can start with how the two parties get their money. Jubilee Party, which comprises TNA, URP,APK and other small parties gets most of its funds from the government based on the number of representatives in parliament and in various political ranks.
Jubilee, being the coalition with the highest number of political representation in parliament, gets a lion’s share.
Apart from the money the party gets from the government, President Kenyatta has several friends who fund raise from time to time. These friends include politicians, businessmen and foreigners with business interests in Kenya.
Businessmen fund raise so as to secure tenders when the government gets power.
Also, party members, especially MPs, Governors and Senators contribute monthly to the Party. The money contributed monthly by these leaders amounts to millions of shillings.
About Eurobond, NYS, SGR,..,I don’t know!
CORD also receives money from the government. The party, which is the second largest coalition, receives slightly less than what Jubilee coalition pockets.
Though the CORD coalition fund raises through friends and business persons, the number of financiers has shrunk over time because the coalition has been weakened by Uhuru’s coalition. The coalition is broke.
Some of the people who finance CORD include Ali Hassan Joho, Evans Kidero, Johnson Muthama and a host of other businessmen from Nyanza region.
Currently, Jubilee party is 4 times richer than CORD, which is why the former is attracting several CORD politicians who are thirst for money.
