Daniel Komen’s story is one that can force tears down your cheeks. In his entire life, the athlete has dedicated all his energy towards building his career, only to be ruined by none other than Uasin Gishu County Speaker Mr Isaac Terer.
It all started in 2008 when Terer advised Mr. Komen to invest Ksh 12 million to non-existing property. The property is said to be registered under whose L.R number 12447/7 and 12448/8 numbers.
After being convinced beyond doubts that the property existed-Terer believed a friend could not do anything silly-the athlete went to his account and channeled a total of Ksh 9 million to the speaker’s bank account.
The said amount was deposited in Paul Cookiesman Ltd whom the learned friend claimed was the seller of the said properties.
After the deposits were made, four days later Terer called Komen and took him to M/S Gicheru & Company Advocates, where they finally signed the sale agreement of the transfer of the above mentioned properties.
The property in question was to be purchased by Komen, but the advocate, knowing very well Komen was not in apposition to understand the process of owning a property, inserted his name. On being questioned why he was doing so, the advocate said that the action was meant to ease the transaction process.
On the 24th June, 2008 Terer called and asked Komen to complete the purchase of the said property by depositing the remaining balance of Kshs 1,000,000 to Pauls Cookiesman Ltd which he did.
After depositing the money, the cat and mouse game started. Komen is now one of the saddest athletes in the world after realizing he could not claim the money back yet the property in question is under Terer’s name.
If you want to know where Komen’s money came from, read his professional biography here:

Remembered for his rivalry with Haile Gebrselassie, Komen’s most notable achievements came in a two-year period between 1996 and 1998, during which he broke a string of world records.
He currently holds the world record for the 3000 metres both outdoors (7:20.67 set in 1996) and indoors (7:24.90 set in 1998). In addition, with his 7.58.61 world record in the 2-mile race set in 1997, he remains the only man in history to run back-to-back sub-four-minute miles, splitting circa 3:59.4 on both the first and second half of the race.
