Former Citizen TV journalist, Johson Mwakazi, has been sacked from WTV where he was the Managing Director of the business station.
Mwakazi was told, “Bye, good luck”, in a dismissal letter delivered to him by a watchman. This was after the station announced that they had no money to pay workers. The TV station also dismissed the entire staff and announced it would close business as soon as today.
Mwakazi was among 60 journalists who were sent packing from the station, even Zawadi Mudibo was not spared. The deep voiced journalist joined the station three years after being offered a salary package of Ksh 600,000.He then convinced himself and management that the station would beat even Citizen TV, something that later turned out to be a pipe dream.
Mwakazi, who before he joined Royal Media Services, was living in slums never bothered to understand the dynamics of running a new TV stations. He now has firsthand experience.
