Ladies take their time for the red carpet, at least it is assumed. In fact they have almost everything custom made for that specific day. And they love it that way.
The media no longer pays attention to women only on the red carpet but men too. Magazines and talk shows want to feature males too. You cannot keep doing a black suit repeatedly; you could try out new stuff on the red carpet. Instead of the normal tie, do the bow tie. A coloured suit could replace your obvious black suit. Instead of the tuxedo, try out some Ankara print. This is how you could prepare for the red carpet.
Get to know the event
The first step is getting all the information concerning the event beforehand. Get to know of similar previous event, where they were held, and what is appropriate for that kind of an event. Other important things to know are whether it will be outdoor or indoor and the timing too. Based on this information, you could end up doing casual or rocking the usual tux. From that, you can get as creative as possible.
Get artistic
Everyone has won a tux or a suit to the red carpet before. That does not mean it is not a good look. The black tie too is still the most elegant thing a man can wear. You could play around with your outfit to achieve a desired look. Get a grey jacket to go with black trousers, or maybe get a single double- breasted jacket or even a bold coloured suit could do. Careful not to exaggerate some looks so you don’t look like a clown.
Fit
This just doesn’t apply to the red carpet only, this should be an everyday thing. They say fit is the only way you can get away with everything. Let the fabric embrace your body in a very sleek and comfortable way. Not too tight and not too loose. Trousers that are too long or jackets that are too loose make you look particularly bad.
Use a tailor
Correct tailoring is key. You want something that fits right? The only right way to achieve this is through a tailor.
Blend
If your hair is dyed brown how about you rock some brown khakis? If your cufflinks are silver then your watch got to be silver too.
Accessorize
Detail is important. Lately, most men have watches. That is not just enough. You could do cufflinks, normal leather shoes, lapels and the common one, a bow tie. Match your watch to the cufflinks. Or your belt if any to the leather shoes. The bow tie must be proportionate to your face so that you don’t look ridiculous. Use a wider lapel for a double breasted jacket and finally have your shoes well-polished.
Remember, you don’t always have to do it right, but at least you have to feel right and, most importantly comfortable.
