If you live within Nairobi,be careful, your money will be stolen in a matatu. There is a new trick manambas and drivers are using. There are vehicles which are specifically for stealing from commuters. They park in strategic places and when they notice a passenger they believe has good money, they are driven as the manamba shouts,”town, town, town”.When you board, they tell you to take the front seat.
If you accept to sit in front, they will start the journey even when there is no passenger. The driver will tell you to close the door several times. Since you are using one door to close, they’ll take that chance to pull out money from your pocket.
One passenger who lost her Ksh 20,000 has this to say:
-Thika Road don’t ever board a matatu that has no passengers utaibiwa.
-If the conductor insist you sit infront when there are seat at the back don’t board.
-If the conductor insist on closing the front door 2 or 3 times please alight unazubaishwa uibiwe.
-Never board a mat that has no sacco name.
Be vigilant Thika road imejaa wakora.
Please be careful when in Nairobi!!!
