PSI Kenya revealed shocking news on its employees that from January 2016, more than three quarters of them will be jobless.
The Organization, which is funded by USAID and DFID, called all its employees to their headquarters at Lenana Road on Monday to make it clear to them that 225 will lose their jobs in January.
USAID left Kenya in 2013 and set its base in Southern Sudan. Most of its workers in Kenya either lost jobs or were transferred to the youngest country in Africa. It is believed that the American Agency, which funds HIV and AIDS projects, is freezing funding for Non-governmental Organizations operating in Kenya.
PSI being one of the NGOs which have worked in Kenya for the longest time is the latest victim of USAID’s actions. Other projects funded by the Agency in Kenya are also expected to lose the funding in the coming year.
