At least 20 people were injured on Sunday evening when a matatu belonging to Forward Travellers Sacco caught fire.
It is believed that a passenger entered the vehicle with a jerrycan of petrol and put it near the matatu’s petrol tank. Minutes later, a huge blast was heard inside the matatu.
Passengers were burnt and hit by flying objects after the blast. Those injured were rushed to Mama Lucy Hospital with multiple injuries.
The vehicle was badly damaged but the owner of the Jerrycan is yet to be identified.
