It is estimated that over 100,000 people live in Pipeline Nairobi. This is because prices of houses (Bedsitter, Single room, one bedroom) are cheaper compared to other areas within the city.
Two years ago, a bedsitter used to go for Sh 4,500 but due to increase in demand of the houses at the area, the rent has shot up. Today a bedsitter goes for Sh 7,000-Ah 9,000.
The cheapest single room in any apartment in Pipeline is Sh 3,000.You will find that these houses have a toilet which more than 20 people share. The average price of a single room in Pipeline area is Sh 4,500.
One bedroom house, which is suitable for a small family, goes for Sh 8,000-Sh 15,000.The houses that cost much are those located near Mombasa road. It is hard to find a one bed room costing less than Ksh 13,500.
One thing we should give credit to landlords in the areas is the finishing they give to their houses. Most houses have excellent finishing with modern tiles, but the roads connecting the estates and the main road are very poor.
