Johnstone Muthama, Moses Kuria and 6 other legislatures will spend at least 4 days in different cells after Chief Magistrate Daniel Ogembo denied them cash bail.
The eight legislatures, whose tongues have been loose, were arraigned at Milimani Law Courts and later doom descended on them after they were escorted into various police stations within Nairobi under tight security.
For those who have never been to a cell, this is the life the eight are facing as we speak.
In a cell, you wonโt go to a toilet anyhow, people go in shifts. Think of someone with a running stomach.
In cell, there is no bed where you can sleep soundly. Different characters are there, and you must sleep on the floor alongside others.
You cannot order food as you wish-itโs provided by the cells. In the morning if the officers are good enough they can serve you two slices of a loaf and watery tea. You wait till lunch when they serve you some cabbage and ugali, or beans and ugali.Remember you must scramble for the food, otherwise you will miss the meal and no one will sympathize with you.
In a Kenyan cell, you are not allowed to communicate with people through the phone anyhowly.I guess Muthama, Kuria and the rest were never allowed to carry their smartphones into the cells. For your information, the worst thing that can happen to a social person is denying him opportunity to interact especially on social media.
Finally, in the cell you are not free to take a shower the way you want. If the cops are lenient enough, you can be allowed to shower once.
And the most painful ordeal-no tissue in those toilets.
The following are going through this:
Moses Kuria (Gatundu) Ferdinand Waititu (Kabete) Junet Mohamed (Suna East), Kimani Ngunjiri (Nakuru East), Timothy Bosire (Kitutu Masaba), Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama, Busia Women Rep Florence Mutua and her Mombasa counterpart Aisha Jumwa.
