Itierio Boys High School students burnt 11 dormitories on Saturday night after their anger boiled beyond control.
The students had requested the administration to allow them watch the ongoing EURO tournament but they were reminded that football is not what took them to Itierio, but education. After realizing their head teacher was not in a hurry to let them watch the matches, they decided to set the school ablaze.
The students burnt 11 dormitories, vandalized the school dining hall and a laboratory.
Information reaching us indicates that head teachers from other schools have vowed not to admit students from the school, arguing that they might “infect” others with the habit.
Itierio used to be a top school in Kisii region about a decade ago but the school’s academic standards have kept on deterioration over time, and the result can be seen now.
