At least 36 petrol stations in Kenya were closed for selling contaminated fuel.
The Energy Regulatory Commission conducted a thorough audit of all petrol stations in the country, and the report concluded that the following petrol stations are not fit to be in business-they are selling contaminated fuel:
- Avis Energy filling station – Machakos
- Patoil filling stations – Machakos
- Mukaa filling station – Makueni
- Sunrise filling station – Nairobi
- Maxis Oil Service – Nairobi
- Kobil Kiembeni – Murang’a
- Nana filling station – Busia
- Lagos filing station – Kilifi
- Digital filling station – Meru
- Hass Eldoret service station – Uasin Gishu
- The ambassador filling station – Kirinyaga
- Total Mwingi service station – Kitui
- Mogas Kitale sevice station – Trans Nzoia
- Kobil Uganda road Eldoret service station – Uasin Gishu
- Rogmer filling station – Meru
The commission directed County Commissioners to withdraw the license of operators of the defaulting outlets.
ERC receives numerous complaints from motorist complaining of some petrol stations filling their tanks with contaminated fuel. This problem is wide spread, which needed a solution.
