Gatundu South Member of Parliament,Moses Kuria,is a man who not only knows jail, but also connects well with his electorate. The Uhuru confidant is well educated, has a successful career and above all, he is rich.

Kuria studied at Ituru Secondary School before joining the University of Nairobi where he pursued a degree in Law.

His first job was at Githongo $ Co advocates, where he worked for about a year and later joined Total Kenya as an Accountant.

He later joined Family Bank, formely Family Bank and Building Society. This is where his relationship with President Uhuru Kenyatta started developing.

At Family bank, Kuria’s salary was agreed to be Ksh 8,000 but the owner, Titus Muya,saw it fit to pay him Ksh 6,000.Kuria quit the job and joined Standard Chartered Bank.

After seven years at the bank, his former boss at Standard Chartered, Mr Chris Wingfield, had moved to Al Rajhi, the largest Islamic bank in the world.

“I got a call from Mr Wingfield in 2002 and said he wanted me in Saudi Arabia. Apart from good perks, I also met my wife Joyce Njambi there,” he says.

After several years of work at Dubai,Kuria returned to Kenya and joined former President Mwai kibaki’s PNU party.

Apart from helping Kibaki win the presidency, he was instrumental in strategizing on Kibaki’s succession plan,which saw Uhuru trouncing Raila in 2013.

In 2013 he became The National Alliance (TNA) officer in charge of strategy, a position he held until he was elected Gatundu South MP during a by-election in 2014.

 

The Gatundu south Member if Parliament is not a poor man since he can afford a Ksh 10 million fine.
