USA has the most powerful military in the world, but what about Africa? Here are the countries with the most powerful military in Africa.

Egypt

Egypt has the most powerful military in Africa. The country, which beats Nigeria, Ethiopia and many other African countries, has over 1.5 front line soldiers, 800 military aircraft and 200 aircraft.

The country also boasts of at least 5 tanks, which is a big achievement for an African country.

Due to its military prowess, Egypt managed to successfully pull through the Arab revolution, which crippled the economy of several Asian tigers.

Algeria

Algeria is ranked second in terms of weaponry and military training.The size of its forces, estimated to be 130,000 active front line personnel,is enough to protect the country from external aggressors.

Algeria has over 3000 armoured vehicles and at least 150 aircraft

Ethiopia

There is one unique thing about Ethiopians, where almost every healthy man wants to join the army; as a result the country has managed to train over 190,000 soldiers.

Ethiopia has 183,000 ground military personnel and more than 3,000 air force officers.

South Africa

South Africa comes fourth after Ethiopia,Algeria and Ethiopia.The country was affected by apartheid and colonization,which hindered efforts to build their military.

Today, South Africa has recovered and prides of at least 120,000 active front line personnel and at least 4,000 armoured vehicles.

Nigeria

Nigeria has the fifth strongest army in Africa. The country has 360 tanks,6,000 logistical vehicles and 300 aircraft.

Kenya

Kenya is ranked 6th country in terms of military prowess.The country has 25,000 active frontline personnel,over 1,000 armoured vehicles and at least 200 aircrafts.

The country spends over Ksh 50 billion to train and equip military and police force annually.

Morocco

Morocco is another African country with very strong military.Ranked 7th, one place behind Kenya,the country has 1,348 tanks,323 aircraft and 195,000 active military personnel.

Tunisia

Coming at position 8 is Tunisia with annual budget of $550 million.

The country has 350 tanks and 140 aircraft.

Angola

Angola is ranked 9th, with a total of 107,000 military personnel,140 tanks and 270 aircraft.

Democratic republic of Congo (DRC)

Democratic Republic of Congo, which has experienced internal war for over 3 decades, is ranked 10th.

The country has 76,000 front line military personnel,400 tanks and 46 aircraft.
