The Jubilee administration, led by President Kenyatta, has decided to entice CORD co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka with a “very nice” package.
Sources within Jubilee say Uhuru and Ruto representatives have been sent to meet Kalonzo’s allies, who include Senator Johnson Muthama and several other Kamba leaders. The strong team has already discussed what Jubilee has in store for Kalonzo but have not agreed on which position Kalonzo will take after joining Jubilee.
Though Kalonzo is firmly in CORD at the moment, there are signs he might accept the offer from Jubilee if he is not given presidential ticket in CORD. The former Vice President has great hopes, considering that Raila may pull out of the presidential race in 2017.
Currently, discussions are ongoing on who will become CORD flag bearer, with a number of politicians aligned to CORD proposing Musalia Mudavadi, to e deputized by Kalonzo.But Jubilee is offering Kalonzo a more junior position, which the former VP is hesitant to take.
But besides promising him DP position in 2022, they are willing to make him happier with other incentives.
