Jubilee Party has decided to support Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko for Nairobi Governor Seat, which is currently held by Evans Kidero.
President Uhuru’s visit to Kenyatta market yesterday, where the feasted on meat, confirmed he is behind Sonko and Sakaja. The impromptu visit was well planned, to prepare residents of Nairobi and make them aware that Uhuru is behind Sonko and not the vocal Dagoretti MP Denis Waweru.
The game plan here is to have Sonko contest against Kidero and Sakaja to deputize the Senator. With this arrangement, Uhuru believes Sonko will get all the Kikuyu and Kalenjin votes, and also votes from Kamba tribe. Then Sakaja will get some votes from the Luhya tribe.
Uhuru wants to avoid a scenario where a Kikuyu will contest for the seat, which will not add value to his presidency. He fears that if a Kikuyu will contest, other tribes might not vote for him. He also believes that Sonko will attract votes from other tribes.
What Jubilee has arrived at is Denis Waweru to go for Nairobi Senator Position while Rachel Shebesh to battle it out with Mrs Omanga for Women Representative Seat.
With this arrangement, Jubilee is assured of beating CORD in Nairobi.
