Royal Media Services has announced, through its Managing Director Wachira Waruru, that it will Sack several of it’s employees.

In a statement circulated to all employees, Wachira stated:

“The past two years have witnessed various developments within the broadcasting industry that have adversely affected our business environment.

As a result, the company is left with no choice but to reorganize its operations. This includes rationalization of various departments.

Unfortunately and regrettably, the action will result in the reduction of our workforce through job redundancies”.

Those who will suffer most include individuals working for vernacular stations like Egesa, which are believed to be less profitable as compared to Citizen TV and Radio.

It is also believed that several workers from Citizen TV will be sent packing due to shrinking profit margins.

Rayol Media Services is the leading media house in Kenya, which employees over 1,000 journalists.
