Nigeria has become the first country in the world to recognize rat killing a career, thanks to the Commissioner for The Environment, Dr Babatunde Adejare.
The commissioner announced Friday that the programme, dubbed “Kill rats, make more money in Lagos“,will benefit youths especially in Lagos and each individual recruited to participate will be given a certificate, meaning that his career will revolve around killing rats.
Dr Barbatunde added:
“We know that rats are a menace in this country. We therefore wish to encourage citizens to participate in this programme so that they can launch their careers”.
The Lagos State Market Deratisation Programme encourages residents to kill rats in their environs which the programme implementers, Phosguard will buy at a yet-to-be determined price for proper disposal.
It is not clear whether the rats will be sold in China or be disposed locally.
