Esther Passaris, the Adopt A Light Founder and CEO is a millionaire, a beautiful woman who rose from rags to riches in a span of less than 10 years.
Esther holds a diploma in Law from the University of London and a certificate course in leadership and Management from Strathmore University.
She at one time contested for Miss Kenya but emerged position two. During the event, several people managed to get her contacts. It’s here that her former husband, Pius Ngugi, spotted her. They later started a relationship which led to Esther giving birth to two children, Makenna Maria and Lefteris Ngugi-Makena is an upcoming musician.
Ngugi and Esther didn’t live as husband and wife: eventually, they separated, leading to court battles. Esther filed a lawsuit against Ngugi for a breach of promise to marry, demanding Ksh. 200,000 and a car to take their children to and from school. In August 2011, Passaris was sued by Ngugi, claiming she continued to demand more money despite agreeing to a truce in their previous case.
A court settlement gave Esther the financial muscle required to start own company. She used the money obtained from Ngugi to start Adopt A Light, a company that deals with installation of street lights and advertisements.
Esther is one of the most controversial women in Kenya. In 2015, she accused Equity Bank CEO of forcing her into having s#x, something that the CEO denied.
It’s through these scenarios that Miguna Miguna draws his conclusion that Ms Passaris’ success can be attributed to sleeping with men for money.Miguna, who never blink while talking, says Esther is a “beauty without brains, the only thing she is selling is her beauty”.
Miguna Miguna and Passaris are both contesting for Nairobi Governor seat against Mike Sonko, Evans Kidero and Peter Kenneth. As it stands, the contest is between Kidero and Peter Kenneth.
