Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has defended Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi over corruption scandal at his County. In a statement issued to the newsroom,Raila said Kingi is a whistle blower and not a culprit. He also condemned President Uhuru for awarding tenders to relatives, saying it’s against the law.
Raila’s full statement reads:
“STATEMENT: PRESIDENT KENYATTA HAS MUCH TO LEARN FROM KILIFI THEFT SAGA
I want to challenge President Uhuru Kenyatta to borrow a leaf from the County Government of Kilifi especially with regard to the shameful scandal at Afya House. A leaf from Kilifi County could also help the President and his team get to the bottom of the scams like NYS and Eurobond that are making Kenyans lose faith in government.
Governor Kingi not only publicly published the names of those implicated, but dismissed them and followed up with letters to the CID and EACC for appropriate action. Kenyans are sick and disgusted to see able, healthy and rich relatives, friends and associates of the president arrogantly declare that they are underprivileged and disabled and had a right to benefit from programs created for the youth, underprivileged women and the disabled while real deserving cases go home empty handed”
