Kenneth Binyavanga Wainaina has said on Twitter that he is HIV positive, ending speculations over his HIV status.
Thursday was AIDs day,the day Binyavavnga broke the news:

The writer, who declared years back that he is gay, shocked his friends and enemies who all along believed he is in perfect health.
In 2011 Time magazine declared the writer one of the Most Influential People in the World, months after he went public about his sexual orientation.
A single tweet, as stated above, has settled the debate-we now know his HIV status.
