Cut Off Points To Public Universities in Kenya 2016

5017

The cut off points for various courses to local universities will reduce drastically following drop in 2016 KCSE examination. It is expected that at the University of Nairobi a student with A- of 75 points will be allowed to pursue a degree in medicine and surgery. The same grade will take you to any university in Kenya to pursue a course of your choice.

The 2016 result was historical after Education CS, Fred Matiangi, revealed that only 141 KCSE students attained grade A.What does this mean?! it implies that all those who scored this grade will pursue a degree of their choice at the University of Nairobi, the best university in Kenya. It also means there will be no scramble for top courses at public universities.

The cluster point for marketable courses like Actuarial Science, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Law, Architecture, Civil Engineering, Medicine & Surgery and Mechanical Engineering will be lowered to accommodate A- students.

Now, we have been reliably informed that C+ will secure direct entry to university, which means all students who scored C+ and above will be selected to join public universities. They will also benefit from HELB loan.

Also,C+ students will be allowed to pursue even a degree in medicine at KEMU or Mount Kenya University. At UoN, you will be required to present grade B- and above for you to be allowed to pursue a degree in medicine.

In short, if you scored C+ and above, you will not struggle to secure admission letter to a marketable course at a public university.
