While public schools will be more than happy with Education CS Fred Matiangi, Private universities are angry with the super performer CS.
Based on the 2016 KCSE performance, public universities will admit at least 98 % of the candidates who scored at least grade C+,leaving the rest to pursue diploma courses. The 98 % will be admitted to the regular programs, which means only 2 % will remain for parallel programs.
According to the 8-4-4 curriculum, only those who score at least C+ are allowed direct entry into degree programs. It now means in 2016, private universities will not have students to admit for their undergraduate programs.
Based on finances, private universities finance their activities through self-sponsored program, implying that this year they will not have funds to run the institutions, unless the admit more students to their diploma and masters programs, which not an easy task.
Is this the end of private universities in Kenya?
