Kidero vs Peter Kenneth, Scandals, Education, Wealth and Work Experience

2595

Evans Kidero is the ultimate choice for CORD in Nairobi while Peter Kenneth is in the race to succeed him as the governor. When we compare the two in regards to education, work experience, scandals and the strength of the parties, who exactly will beat the other in this coveted seat? The answer is outlined below.

Peter Kenneth

Peter M. Kenneth, 51, born and brought up in Bahati Nairobi, schooled at Starehe Boys Centre for both his O and A levels before he was hired by a Bank where he worked for 11 years. He left banking when he was elected as chairman of the KFF. He was later appointed as Managing Director of the Kenya Reinsurance Corporation. He resigned from Kenya Re in 2002 to vie for Gatanga Parliamentary Seat.

He holds a Bachelor and Masters of Law degrees from the University of Nairobi.

Mr Kenneth is one of the most respected politicians in Central Kenya and is believed to be in the best position to succeed President Kenyatta in 2022.

Evans Kidero

Evans Kidero is a Luhya, one of the most influential politicians from Western Kenya. The son in law to a trade unionist, Tom Mboya attended Mangu High School  for his secondary education before he joined the university of Nairobi and graduated in 1983 with a Degree in Pharmacy .He later proceeded to Kenyan United States International University where he obtained a Masters in Business Administration 1990.

Kidero worked for GlaxoSmithKline, Nation Media Group and as the CEO of the Mumias Sugar Company for eight years, where he took a break from the corporate world to join politics.

In 2013, Evans Kidero Trounced Ferdinand Waititu to become the Nairobi Governor. But how did he beat Waititu, a seasoned politician? Here is what helped him.

Before we concentrate on the voting patterns in Nairobi, these were the results for 2013 elections:

Name Votes
Evans Kidero 692,483
Ferdinand Waititu 617,839
Jimnah Mbaru 52,084
Philip Kisia 5,182

What helped Kidero is the unity within CORD, which saw Wiper, Ford Kenya and ODM front a single candidate. This unity meant that only two tribes, Kikuyu and Kalenjin, were left to vote for Waititu and other candidates.

What is now surprising is that Kidero is going to face a more polished competitor, Peter Kenneth, who has snatched Jubilee ticket from Mike Sonko. The race between the two will be interesting because they are both believed to be equals in terms of education, work experience, political backing and age but Kidero has a slight edge over Kenneth in terms of wealth. The former Mumias CEO is among few billionaires in Kenya, he is so loaded that he can single handedly finance Raila’s campaigns. Even so,Peter Kenneth has some coins to spend.

Kidero’s wealth is in excess of Ksh 20 billion while Peter Kenneth’s net worth ranges between Ksh 3 billion to Ksh 7 billion.

Scandals

According to Miguna Miguna, these are Peter Kenneth’s scandals:

  • Ambition – To become the 5th President of Kenya via ethnic gerrymandering.
  • Performed marginally in his “O” Levels at the Starehe Boys’ Centre.
  • Made history by FAILING his “A” Levels at the Starehe Boys’ Centre.
  • 1985-1986: Worked as a junior clerk at the National Finance Company.
  • From 1987-1996: Employed as a teller. Promoted to Branch Manager at the Prudential Finance Bank due to his “heritage.”
  • 1996: Became an excellent KANU sycophant and was rewarded and imposed by KANU’s vicious dictators and plunderers as Chair of KFF where he performed dismally.
  • 1992-1997: Loyal member and messenger for the RAPACIOUS Youth for KANU ’92 (YK’92).
  • 1997-2002: Presided over the DISMEMBERMENT of the Kenya Reinsurance Corporation (Kenya-Re), a public asset.
  • Attempted to FRAUDULENTLY sell Kenya-Re a public asset with a value of more than Shs. 2 billion to Monarch Insurance Ltd. and Zimbabwe Reinsurance Corporation at Shs. 800 million.
  • Mysteriously acquired a prime PUBLIC property in Kiuna Estate for a song.
  • 2003: Was stopped by Parliament and the High Court from FRAUDULENTLY selling Kenya-Re but not before he had BANKRUPTED it.
  • Beneficiary of the single-sourced and dubious CCTV tender between the Safaricom and Kidero’s cartels.
  • The HANSARD (Official Parliamentary Record) of October 23, 2002 at page 2639, Mr. Kenneth was identified as a corporate vulture who had orchestrated the fraudulent privatisation of a prime public asset.
  • December 2002 to 2013: MP for Gatanga. Claims that he was the “best CDF Manager” even though as an MP he was not a member of the Gatanga CDF Board nor did he have any direct role in the CDF management. Compared to the MPIGs who perform at the F level, even an E grade is considered “Good.”
  • 2013: Run for President of Kenya and got less than 10,000 votes from Nairobi County.
  • Has purportedly recently obtained 2 law degrees through the much maligned Parallel Degree Program.
  • He prides himself of having “successfully managed” Kenya-Re in the same manner that Evans Kidero had dismembered Mumias Sugar Company when Nairobi deserves a visionary leader of integrity; not a certified thief like them.
  • Has 30 years’ experience of corporate theft and ineptitude in the management of of public assets.
  • He has never opposed, spoken or fought against corruption; tribalism; human rights abuses; and extrajudicial killings.
  • He actively supported the one-party KANU/Moi dictatorship for 24 years and worked against the struggle for multi-party democracy and a new constitutional dispensation.
  • Peter Kenneth is DISTINCTLY UNQUALIFIED to become Governor of Nairobi. He is, however qualified as a Socialite Male Bimbo; an establishment and status quo and cartel ornament!

Evans Kidero has scandals too. While in Mumias, the company performed excellently but immediately he exited, it was established that over Ksh5 billion were mission from the accounts, which was due to cooking of books.

Evans Kidero foundation, was found to be operating in Kenya without paying taxes.Kidero has pumped over Ksh2 billion to the institution, but it was not clear where Kidero sourced the money from.NGO Coordination Board threatened to de-register the institution.

Conclusion

Despite the scandals, wealth, education and political heat, one of the two men will become the Governor of Nairobi, and as things stand, Kidero will retain his seat. I am saying so because the people who voted for KIDERO will still vote for him this time, this is because our parties are founded on ethnic grounds, which makes it possible for Kidero to receive votes from 42 tribes.
