Adama Barrow was today evening sworn in as Gambia’s new president in Dakar Senegal, ending speculation over his fate.
Barrow,who is expected to return to his country any time from now,swore in the name of God using the following words:
“I Adama Barrow,
do swear,
that I will well and truly,
execute the functions of the office,
as The President of the Republic of The Gambia,
that I will preserve and defend the constitution
and that I will do right to all manner of people,
according to law
without fear or favour
affection or ill will
so help me God”.
The swearing in of Barrow means that the former security officer is the new president of Gambia by right and law while Yahya Jammeh will be treated as an ordinary citizen.
Already, several troops belonging to regional economic bloc, ECOWAS, UK and many other countries have declared to storm the country and remove Yahya from power.
Sources within the country says Yahya will today night sneak out of the country to Morocco after his troops declared they will not resist change. Which means Jammeh’s journey as a president has come to an end.
