Kenyans who are planning to study PhD courses at the University of Nairobi will have difficult time graduating. This is after the university came up with new rules that will ensure the quality of education is maintained.

Under the new regulations, a PhD holder will now be required to supervise not more than 5 PhD students. And for doctorate programmes, supervisors will only be allowed to oversee research work of a maximum of three students

PhD and Masters Proposals will undergo thorough plagiarism screening, and any proposal found to have at least 10 % plagiarism will be rejected. A student whose proposal is rejected will be required to start the work afresh or discontinued if he repeatedly plagiarizes other publishers.

“Please attend an emergency meeting on Thursday to familiarize with the rules. You must attend regardless of the progress of your research work, “this is the message circulated by the institution

Following the rules outlined above, it will now be hard for masters and PhD students to graduate from the University of Nairobi.
