Teachers not allowed to Apply for IEBC Jobs, They Will Be Sacked—TSC

The Teachers Service Commission has warned teachers against applying for IEBC jobs.

TSC cautions that if a teacher is found conducting voting exercise, which shall commence on August 8, 2017, they will be sacked.

“Teachers Service Commission would like to notify all teachers that it’s illegal for any teacher to attend IEBC training as Presiding Officers, Deputy Presiding Officers, Polling Clerks or an Agent of any political party whether during working day or holiday.

The Code of Regulations for Teachers states clearly of the role of teachers and hence prohibits teachers from being partisan in any political setup.

As a result, teachers should realize that school Holiday is a normal working day where a teacher is fully paid”, said a circular from TSC.

The letter was copied to all school principals and head teachers, where they were told to communicate to their juniors.

The letter puts the last nail on the coffin of teachers’ meager pay, who expected to earn at least Ksh 20,000 from the exercise and at least buy a nice suit for students to see.
