The IEBC has issued a statement regarding yesterday’s court ruling on the presidential ballot printing tender.
The body reiterated that it will appeal the ruling this week after they have met all the 2017 presidential candidates.
“The Commission joins the Nation in mourning the death of Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery. We send our deep condolences to the family, friends and the nation at large during this difficult time.
The Commission has reflected on the judgment of the High Court on procurement of Ballot Papers for presidential elections and has resolved to take the following steps:
- Hold a meeting with all Presidential Candidates on 10th July, 2017 at 11.00am.
- Invite the public to submit memoranda on procurement of presidential ballot papers by 11th July, 2017 and public hearing on 12th July, 2017.
- Appeal the High Court decision on public participation in procurement process.
The said meetings and public sessions shall be open to the media.
The Commission wishes to assure Kenyans that it is making all efforts to ensure that all processes are in place to deliver a free, fair and credible Election.

This means that if the presidential candidates agree to represent the public,the printing exercise will continue.The IEBC only needs to convince Raila that the elections will be free and fair.
