Things that can easily make you poor in Kenya, here is Venas News opinion

Poverty is a chronic disease, only healed by sound decisions. In Kenya, there are several things that can easily make you poor, and that’s what we shall discuss in this article.

WhatsApp

WhatsApp is an application that was launched in Kenya not long ago, but the application has almost overtaken Facebook and Twitter.

What is shocking about WhatsApp is that it’s the new platform for dating. Research shows that out of 10 messages a Kenyan sends on WhatsApp,7 are delivered to potential targets-girlfriends/boyfriends.

It’s not wrong to date, but when you spend too much time on WhatsApp, you become inactive and more concerned on things that can never help.

If you are spending at least 2 hours on WhatsApp daily, especially from 7 am -5 pm, you will end up being not productive, hence poor.

Betting /gambling

This is another disease that is fast spreading across the country. Kenya has become a gambling nation as Sportpesa, Mcheza, Betin, Betway etc pocket your hard earned cash.

For your information, it’s been proved that only 10-30 % benefit from gambling, implying that 70 % benefit the company.

For those who know what gambling has done to individuals, they won’t dare get involved in this madness.

Gambling is enticing; you will win small cash first but you will lose endlessly.

What gambling companies have mastered is the art of public relations. When a single individual wins a jackpot, they’ll make sure the whole world knows, so that they can pull more customers. The following morning, more gamblers will be in the cocoon.

I used to visit Casinos in Nairobi, but the scenes in those rooms are not good at all. A man enters the room excited but he leaves in tears. Consequently, the Casino Company will smile all the way to the bank.

If you want to be poor in Kenya, please join the gambling community. You will bet even your wife!

Not minding your business

What is making most Kenyans poor is minding other people’s business.

You have no business monitoring each and every activity your neighbor or enemy is doing. The time you are wasting is enough to create an empire.

Time is precious, that’s why you are always advised to spend the little time at your disposal to build yourself.

Unless you want to steal ideas from your friend, never waste time minding their business-you’ll be a slave in the process.

One funny thing about this scenario is that you won’t realize you are losing out until your projects stall as you feel jealous and envious of your neighbor.

Working for somebody

It’s not bad to work for somebody, but immediately you get that contract, plan an exit strategy. In this case, draw a business plan.

There is what we call a rat race, where you are paid Ksh 20,000 and demand Ksh 30,000 next year. After being paid Ksh 30,000,you will again demand Ksh 40,000.During all this time, you’ll realize that in 4 years, you have only gained Ksh 40,000 per month but not achieved your dream.

If you start a business venture, you will be your own boss, decide what to earn and fulfill your ambitions. You will be disappointed on the way but finally, you’ll master the tricks.

Even if you are paid Ksh 1 million per month, employment can’t satisfy you. The only person who’s happy in this case is the owner since he has achieved his ambitions.

Spending too much time in school

This is one funny thing about Kenyans. You find an individual has a degree in business administration and CPA.This person wants to study CFA,ACCA,MSC Finance,MBA and PhD.For heaven’s sake, what will you do with all these.

Imagine you spend 4 years in undergraduate,2 years in masters,4 years studying PhD and another 4 years studying professional courses. All these time, somebody has built an empire to employ you.

In Kenya, the most frustrated people are the most educated ones, especially lecturers. These people have spent a lot of time in class, wasted their mental energy and at the end of the day they earn Ksh 120,000.This is purely nonsense.

It’s not wrong to further your education, but you understand too much of something is poisonous.

The only ideal level is masters, the rest is useless.

Alcohol and women

Alcohol and women go hand in hand. If you love both, you’re finished. I leave it there.
