As election date gets closer, it’s emerging that several bus companies are planning to increase bus fare from Nairobi to Kisii, Western and Kisumu.
Top bus companies like Easy Coach,Transline and Guardian Angel will be forced to review their prices upwards following a surge in the number of people travelling upcountry.Currently,Easy Coach, Guardian Angel and Transline Classic are charging Ksh 800-Ksh1,000 from Nairobi to Kisii.In the next one week, the prices may increase to between Ksh 1,000-Ksh1,500.
Also Machakos Country Bus where less prestigious bus companies have their booking office, fare prices will shoot up to a minimum Ksh600 from Nairobi to Kisii.Those travelling to Kisumu will part with at least Ksh900.
The most affected are people travelling to Western Kenya and Kisumu .They will be required to pay more than double the current fare prices.
Already, people have started travelling, and the earlier you book the better.
