I can confess that when I was an employee- now I am not- I used to do what I have explained above and to be honest, I got majority of the job offers in the month of January.I didn’t wait until January because I knew there would be job seekers’ stampede in majority of companies.
Over time, I have observed that many job seekers wait until January to make applications-this is a wrong move. As others are trooping to villages in December, your movement should point into the opposite direction, probably Nairobi. Once in Nairobi, be more than aggressive in your job searching journey. You will be surprised how easy and fast you will land a job in January.
I have also observed that in January, companies are optimist about their expected performance. This is the month they set up everything, their goals and targets. If they find some of their workers are missing, they move fast to replace them. The first step they make is to check whether there are any applications in their email portals .If you are among the applicants and your qualifications match their requirements, you will certainly be called for a job interview.
This year, research shows that majority of Kenyans who will quit their jobs are those working in the banking industry. This show that more chances will be created in the sector.
