It is usually known that caffeine lifts our energy levels and keeps us alert. That is what exactly energy drinks are doing to us. They stimulate us when we are down.
In spite of the fact that they are highly beneficial (because they can treat even health problems, such as headaches), because of the amount of chemicals that energy drinks contains, they can be very harmful to our health.
Researches have shown that drinking energy drinks suck as “Red Bull” can lead to heart attack. As a proof, they noted the recent case of a BK resident Cory Terry (33y), who used to drink one Red Bull on a daily basis and suddenly died from a heart attack.
According to his mother sayings, he never use to drink alcohol nor smoked cigarettes and was physically active. His only weakness was his habit to drinking energy drink every day.
Can Red Bull really Cause a Heart Attack?
As a matter of fact, yes Red Bull can cause a heart attack. In a study made by the Mayo Clinic, it was proven that energy drinks are increasing the cardiovascular issues and they are causing a heart attack. The study was made over 15 healthy people who were given half a liter of an unidentified energy drink every day.
The composition of the energy drink was very similar to the one of Red Bull. The results showed that after 4 hours the people have increased blood pressure by 10%. In addition of that, the people have increased heart rate, which means that there is a high risk of heart attack.
High blood pressure and irregular heart rate can damage the heart arteries, and this is increasing the risk of strokes or heart attack.
What Does Red Bull Contain?
Alongside with sugar and caffeine, Red Bull contains taurine, a very potent stimulator. But we can’t prove the negative effects of the Red Bull because there are not enough researches made on its ingredients.
On the other side, numerous studies were performed on the effect of Red Bull on our health. For example, one study showed that the taurine and the caffeine are not harmful on their own, but if they are combined, they might damage the cardiovascular system and cause a heart attack.
This confirms what we already knew. Because of that, in order to prevent strokes and heart attacks, avoid drinking energy drinks. Take a cup of coffee the next time you’ll need a stimulant.
