Several Kikuyu men demonstrated yesterday along Nirobi-Nakuru highway over Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu’s ban on charcoal burning. The thick skinned politician heard none of their cries, she replied:

“You are complaining and demonstrating about the burnt Lorry, ok next time I will not burn the lorry, I will ask for the chase number, Engine Model and serial Numbers, Logbook and even exermine the vehicle body parts if not full of vandalised spares parts from other Trucks. I will do that with intention to establish the correct ownership it could be for Wambua, Otieno or Wafula. No compensation in Kitui, be warned. Dont mistake my name Charity to mean a charitable Organization for charcoal vendors,”

Ngilu is accused of inciting his people into burning a vehicle belonging to a Kikuyu businessman. The incident took place about two weeks ago, which has brought tension among two communities.
