Success is measured in different forms, but more importantly through your net monetary value. A successful man should avoid known bad habits for him to be equated to another successful person. In our modern society, resources have become scarce, the population has soared and competition has tightened. Because of the above scenarios, one has to give up some habits and adopt new strategies if he wants to succeed, which is why we have developed article.
- Overstaying in university/college
You all understand people don’t eat books, they eat what money can afford. Overstaying in school may negatively impact on your financial progress. People like Mike Sonko, Hassan Joho, Chris Kirubi,SK Macharia,Uhuru Kenyatta and a host of other successful Kenyans never took education serious beyond undergraduate, they understood how time is precious and education is time consuming. Successful people, like Billy Gates, Mark Zuckerberg and Warren Buffet understood the meaning of innovation and how the little knowledge they had could help them change the world. Immediately they discovered a gap in the society, they put education into a half and went for money.
The problem we have in our Kenyan society is that our mind is programmed in such a way that we think the more we read, the more we are likely to become rich and successful. The truth of the matter is, education beyond undergraduate is just a bonus. With an undergraduate degree, you do anything a PhD holder can do, and even outdo him in almost all areas.
- Alcohol
Alcohol can ruin your life, it has ruined many. I am sure you have seen a million of our role models take alcohol, but that does not mean they spend all their time in the pub. What those guys do is, they have a strict timeline. They only take a sip when they are done with their diary.
Alcohol is like a tick which sucks your blood in bits, you may ignore it because the impact is not immediately realized, but in the long run it causes detrimental loss.
- Hanging out with wrong people
Your character, influence and success are highly correlated with the type of people you associate with. Successful people choose their friends carefully-they actually have countable friends who they borrow ideas from.
Wrong friends will always think of women, alcohol and gambling…nothing else. The right ones will always come up with new ideas, they brainstorm, contribute towards a noble course and always help when one of them is unable to catch up. The kind of friends in your entire circle will determine your length and breadth of life.
- Not being aggressive
Success won’t come looking for you in the house, you have to look for it.If you’re taken through the life and hustle of a successful person, you won’t lazy around. Successful people have limited time, they have a lot of work to the extent of forgetting what is surrounding them.
What I know of these people (I have interacted with some), they network a lot, they know where opportunities and never waste time to grab them.
The more you gamble, the more you became a pauper.Gambling is one of the chronic diseases that kill innocent beings in a smart way. Unless you’re extremely lucky, you won’t be successful in Kenya if your main business is to gamble.
- Minding other people’s business
You have never seen a gossiper go far, nor a jealous man succeed in a highly competitive environment. These people have dedicated all their energy and resources in minding other people’s business to an extent they don’t understand what they stand for. Success comes only when you mind your own business.
