Pursuing a degree program is always the dream of every Kenyan, but there are courses you should avoid as much as possible even when they are offered for free.
We all know education is key to success, while that’s the case, a good number of graduates have not gotten the key despite chewing books like none of my business. I have been in constant interaction with hundreds of form four leavers, most of them have contacted me online seeking to know the most suitable career options. In all the instances, I have told them, point blank the kind of courses to shun and those to undertake. Given a chance, the following are degrees I should study in the university:
- Bachelor of Law
- Bachelor of Medicine & Surgery
- Bachelor of Pharmacy
- Bachelor of Commerce+CFA
- Bachelor of Software Engineering
- Bachelor of Architecture
- Bachelor of Monitoring & Evaluation
- Bachelor of Nursing
- Bachelor of Early Childhood Education
- Bachelor of Special Needs Education
- Bachelor of Quantity Surveying
- Piloting
- Bachelor of Criminology and Forensic Science+CFE
- Bachelor of Accounting+ACCA
- Bachelor of Statistics +CFA
- Bachelor of Actuarial Science +Professional courses from SOA
Given a chance again, I will avoid the following courses:
- Bachelor of Education Arts & Sciences
- Bachelor of Political Science
- Bachelor of International Relations
- Bachelor of Arts (General)
- Bachelor of Chemistry
- Bachelor of Physics
- Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences
- Bachelor of Industrial Chemistry
- Bachelor of Food Science
- Bachelor of Sports Science
- Bachelor of Fisheries
- Bachelor of Forestry
- Bachelor of Agriculture
- Bachelor of NGO Management
- Bachelor of Sociology
- Bachelor of Biology
Bachelor of Education has a salary cap, meaning you can’t earn beyond a certain level. By undertaking the course, you accept to be poor. Bachelor of Biomedical Science looks fancy but it’s not marketable. Bachelor of Chemistry, Bachelor of Physics and Bachelor of Biology are not worth anyone’s time…better you pursue a diploma course in electrical and electronics engineering.
There are courses that lack space in Kenya, such as Bachelor of NGO Management, Bachelor of Political Science and Bachelor of Fisheries…who will employ you with such certificates?!!!
Instead of wasting your time in pursuing a degree program in Sociology, join KMTC for a diploma in pharmacy.
