This is How Pump Attendants in Petrol Stations Steal fuel from Clients: If You Own a Car, Read This!

Pump attendants in petrol stations are meant to help clients fuel their cars. In Kenya, petrol stations have risen significantly over the past 10 years indicating that the middle class are buying cars at exponential rate. However, pump attendants have been found to be so suspicious that car owners don’t trust them when it comes to fueling their cars.

There is this trick most of them (pump attendants) use to steal from clients. After they have fueled a car, they leave the pump hanging so that it cannot be adjusted to zero. Assuming the client who has just been served had consumed Ksh 1200,the pump will still read Ksh1200 when it’s left hanging. When a new client comes and requests for Ksh2000 fuel, the pump attendant will start filling the car tank with the starting point of the pump being Ksh1200.This means the pump attendant will only sell fuel worth Ksh 800 and pocket Ksh1200.

There is this case that happened at Ngong Road yesterday where the pump attendant tried the trick on one cllent, but his days of cheating were over. Here is how the story went.
