Kenyans were shocked for the first time in half a decade when Safaricom internet connection got lost for hours. The outage started around 9pm and persisted for close to 5 hours.
The good news is that the internet connection is back. However, Kenyans who depend on internet for their daily activities were delinked from the rest of the world as they tried to access services online. The most innovative ones shopped for Airtel lines, which is not reliable in some areas.
A statement from Safaricom concerning the outage read:
“We wish to apologize to our customers and partners that are currently experiencing voice and data outage caused by multiple data link cuts affecting critical transmission equipment”
We hope the problem will be resolved once and for all.
