OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME
Kenya is one of three countries selected to participate inthe Malaria Vaccine Implementation Programme (MVIP). The goal of the MVIP is toprovide key information to inform and update the WHO policy recommendation onthe use of the RTS, S/AS01 malaria vaccine in young children in sub SaharanAfrica. The strategic objective is to provide timely availability of pilotimplementation evidence on RTS,S feasibility, impact, and safety for submissionto the WHO‘s SAGE/MPAC aiming for final data submission in 2022. To accomplishthis, WHO will work closely with PATH in collaboration with the MOH and otherpartners, to support the introduction of the RTS,S vaccine sub-nationallythrough EPI programs in the 3selected countries.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
The incumbent will have the following assignedresponsibilities/duties :1.Serve as the WHO Country Office focal point for the MVIPworking closely with the MOH focal point for the MVIP to convene and coordinatethe in-country coordination team activities2.Provide support and technical assistance incollaboration with, PATH, GSK, and other in-country stakeholders/partners, tothe MOH EPI Manager, MVIP focal point and implementing counties to facilitate thecoordination and implementation of MVIP activities in line with the developedtimelines.3.Facilitates work of the Malaria Vaccine TechnicalWorking Group to ensure timely implementation of pilot activities across allwork streams: regulatory, ethics, vaccine implementation, pharmacovigilance, evaluation,supplies and communication4.Attends MVIP teleconferences and meetings, providingsupport to the EPI Manager and MOH MVIP Focal point to ensure regularupdates and communication betweenstakeholders within country and internationally on the state of MVIPimplementation5.Works closely with the National and County levels tosupport scientific, technical and policy aspects of the pilot. 6.Review, monitor and report on MVIP work planimplementation, allocation and utilization of MVIP funds and resources for nationaland subnational activities.7.Serves as the primary liaison between the MVIP team atcountry level and MVIP Team at WHO HQ, AFRO, and in the other Pilot Countriesand partners at global and regional level.8.Assist withcoordination of efforts between the Evaluation Partners and the NationalVaccines and Immunization programme.9.Support the NVIP and the PPB to strengthen pharmacovigilanceactivities and liaise with the MVIP AFRO and WHO HQ teams on pharmacovigilancefor MVIP. 10. Facilitateand maintain good communications with the MVIP team at HQ, AFRO, and PATH, withthe MOH, and , with Evaluation Partners and other partners in country11. Reporton targets and milestones ensuring required reports and communications,including quarterly reports, are complete and submitted according to the agreedupon timelines. 12. Provideregular updates to the WR and in-country partners as required on theprogress of MVIP 13. Conductany other duties as assigned by the WR.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Essential: A medical degree in Medicine or Public Health, or Global/InternationalHealth, or Pediatrics, or Family Health, or Health Policy and Management, or Socio-medicalSciences, or Epidemiology, or otherfields relevant to immunization.
Desirable: Postgraduate degree in Medicine or Public Health, or Global/InternationalHealth, or Pediatrics, or Family Health, or Health Policy and Management, or Socio-medicalSciences, or Epidemiology, or otherfields relevant to immunization.Training in Programme management would be an asset.
Experience
Essential: At least 5 years demonstrated experience atnational or international levels in public health programmespreferably in malaria control and/or immunization programmes in low-resource environments.
Desirable: Demonstrated experience in working with KenyaMinistries of Health on design, planning, implementation,monitoring and evaluation of national health programmes. Experience in doing costing andbudgets, and working in collaborationwith a diverse range of stakeholders.

REMUNERATION
Remuneration comprises an annual base salary starting at KES 6,418,012 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
