Before you buy betting tips, ensure you don’t fall to the tricks of scammers. There are thousands of scammers online who are preying on innocent gamblers. But for us who have experience in betting, we are able to know who is genuine and who is not real. There are over 10 signs to guide you in identifying a scammer.

In betting a scammer is one who takes your money and doesn’t deliver odds. We also have individuals who promise fixed matches but end up disappointing clients.

Before you buy odds, make sure you have the following in mind:

  1. Fixed matches

If you find someone claiming to be having fixed matches every day, then that’s a scammer. Fixed matches are rare to get and unless someone works with several betting companies and clubs, there is no way he can get access to fixed matches.

The moment someone claims that their games are 100% fixed, know that that person is a scammer.

All the popular betting predictions sites I know provide analyzed matches—they don’t have fixed matches.

  1. Contact details

Before you make payment to any tipster, make sure the contact details provided are working. Some websites have a phone number that’s not working. So if you pay to that person, how will you communicate with him in case of any emergency? I know of a couple of scammers in Kenya whose websites don’t have contact details, or if they have contact number, it’s not working—those are scammers.

  1. Website

Scammers are plenty in Telegram, Facebook and WhatsApp. These are social media platforms owned by Zuckerberg and other billionaires. The tipsters are hosted by the platforms. If you pay money to someone and he disappears, you may not be able to trace them. But if there is a functional website like Venas News, then you’ll be able to trace the owner.

You should always avoid paying people who don’t have functioning and active websites. However, there are few who are genuine.

  1. Only Historical bets exist on the website

Most scammer don’t place games to be played, what they do is, wake up and list the games that were played yesterday and the result of the matches, they then claim those were the tips sent to subscribers. These people fear to place tips for website visitors to place and develop confidence; they know if they do so, their credibility will be questioned. In most cases they list correct score results for previous games.

If you are new to that website, you’ll be amazed at the result and think that that’s what they will offer, when you join, things go south.

A genuine website should provide free games which are yet to be played so that when someone decides to subscribe, they know what to expect.

  1. They ask for one off payment

Most scammers prefer one off payment, they don’t ask for monthly, weekly or two weeks subscription. What these people do is that they ask for huge sums at ones. For example, there is one in Kenya who asks for Ksh10,000 per games. This person claims that he has one fixed match with an odd of 50 and tells you to stake high. He then asks for a down payment of Ksh10,000. He knows that by paying Ksh10,000, even if you don’t win he has already gained. Once you pay, he’ll send the one game and when you lose, he’ll block you.

A good tipster is one who has several packages which last for a certain duration. The packages must have renewal option.

If you find a person saying, “pay me Ksh 20,000 I give you 100% fixed match”, avoid that scammer like a plague.

  1. They use foreign numbers

Some scammers live in Kenya but they use Ugandan or Tanzanian numbers,or even Dubai numbers—I don’t know how they do it.Even if they scam you, they know you can’t complain to the Ugandan government. If you find a tipster who uses a foreign number, never listen to him.

  1. They use foreign names

Scammers don’t want to be identified, especially those in social media. You’ll find a Kenyan nicknaming himself Johnson, Jackson,Denilson,Handerson yet he is Omondi or Kamau. They even don’t use their photos.

To avoid being scammed, do thorough background checks before you pay for tips—don’t make payments to people you don’t know.
