Even as Sportpesa and 27 other betting companies fight to get their licenses renewed, there are a couple of betting companies whose licenses were renewed, they will operate uninterrupted.
The companies had fulfilled government requirements and were given a clean bill of health. Here is the list:
- Betlion
- Betpalace
- Odibets
- Mcheza
- Kwikbet
- Betika
- Gamemania
The companies above control less than 15% of the stake in the betting industry. Betlion was launched in Kenya in 2018 but has not managed to break even, while Betika is struggling to remain afloat. Only Odibets which is doing well. Julie Gichuru’s Mcheza almost collapsed but following the controversy surrounding the betting industry, the company might pick up the pieces.
In case Sportpesa,Shabiki,Betin ,1XBET and Betway are allowed to operate,some of the seven betting companies above will continue struggling but if they are closed forever,Odibets and Betika will be the major beneficiaries, nearly all gamblers will shift to those two companies.
