The Teachers Service Commission has announced that they will hire a total of 10,000 interns in Secondary and primary schools. The high school interns will be paid a salary of Ksh 15,000 per month while the primary school teachers will earn Ksh10,000 per month.
To be recruited as an intern, you must have the following qualifications:
- The applicants should be 35 years or younger,
- Must be registered with the TSC
- Be jobless and possess a minimum of a P1 certificate for those seeking primary posts, and a Diploma in Education for those joining secondary.
- They must also have a personal accident insurance to cover for personal risks during the 12-month internship period
According to the Teachers Service Commission, the monthly salary will be subjected to taxation, NHIF and NSSF deductions.
A total of 4,300 will be deployed in primary schools while 6,000 will be sent to secondary schools. Currently, Kenya faces a shortage of 95,258 teachers in high school and 30,357 in primary school.
