The Catholic Church in Italy has launched an investigation after two Nuns became pregnant while on missionary work trip in Africa
One of the Nuns, aged 34, discovered her pregnancy when she went to hospital with stomach pain. She has now moved to a different town to prepare for the birth of her child.
Both nuns are now facing an uncertain future in their profession and the scandal has caused panic among the clergy in Italy
The two nuns may now choose to give up their monastic lives altogether and focus on raising their children.
The Church in Rome has said that “An investigation has been launched. They both breached strict rules of chastity but the welfare of their children is uppermost”
