The Kenya National Bureau of Standards has banned 5 maize flour companies and ordered them to stop manufacturing the products.
KEBS has warned Kenyans against buying the products, saying they contain aflatoxin which is higher than the recommended maximum level.
The list is as follows:
|Dola Maize Meal||Kitui Flour Mills|
|Kifaru Maize Meal||Alpha Maize Meal|
|Starehe Maize Meal||Pan African Maize Millers|
|210 Two Ten Maize Meal||Kenblest Limited|
|Jembe Maize Meal||Kensalrise Limited|
The new developments from KEBS comes a week after the institution banned 7 peanut butter brands.
The manufacturers have been ordered to recall all the substandard maize meal products from the market. In addition, supermarkets and shops have been told to remove the stock from their shelves.
