Latest statistics from the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics show that only 79,982 Kenyans earn above Ksh 100,000 per month, this is approximately 80,000 employees in Kenya.
This number represents 2.89 % of 2.77 million people working captured in the Kenya Revenue Authority system. The report further revealed that the gross monthly per capita income is Ksh 16,833.
Shocking statistics indicate that 74.58 percent of all workers in Kenya earn below Ksh50,000 per month while those earning between Ksh 50,000 and Ksh 99,999 represents 63 % of the work force in the formal sector.
The statistics show that a whopping 10% of the workforce in Kenya pocket monthly salary of between Ksh 0 and Ksh 19,999. Those in the salary bracket of Ksh 20,000 to Ksh 49,999 were 65%
More than half of Kenyans earning above Ksh 100,000 are men while majority of workers taking home below Ksh10,000 are women.
