Academic writing employs over 5,000 Kenyans, it’s one of the areas where those working online start from. In 2010, I was doing academic writing jobs, that time I used to be paid Ksh250 per page. In a day, I averaged 4 pages and in a month, I could make Ksh 30,000. I did the job for 8 good months but got exhausted. That was when I shifted to blogging and affiliate marketing.

As an academic writer, you get paid based on the number of pages you successfully submit. You can make nothing or even Ksh 30,000 per day. There is an option of acquiring your own account but it only happens when you gather enough experience of managing an account. An account with a good reputation will generate upwards of Ksh 300,000 per month.

If you are employed by someone, you will be paid Ksh150 to Ksh300 per page. Realistically, you’ll earn Ksh5,000 to Ksh100,000 per month.

The amount of money earned depend on your input—the more work you do,the more you earn.On average, you’ll earn Ksh40,000 per month from academic writing in Kenya.
