Gerald Gikonyo is the man who owns Sabina Joy,a pub located at the heart of Nairobi.
Mr Gikonyo hails from Rwathia in Murang’a County.He arrived in Nairobi early 1950s and got his first job as a casual labourer of Peter Munga.He left the job after two years to look for greener pastures within the city.He later got another job at the Kenya Planters Co-operative Union’s coffee mill.
The entrepreneur saved money from his work and established Sabina Joy in 1960s.Gikonyo has established the bar to become the favourite among lower and middle income earners in Nairobi.
The father of 26 is still going strong at 112 years.Gikonyo is one of the richest people in Muranga.
Sabina joy is a home to more than 1,000 prostitutes. Men flock the joint because sex is cheap.Some of the girls charge as little as Ksh100 per shot.
