A total of 4 names have been proposed to be Raila’s running mate. Shockingly, Peter Kenneth’s name is not featured anywhere.Raila is expected to name his running mate before the end of May 2022.
The choosing of a running mate will be determined by several factors .Raila will not pick a running mate just because they are close to him, he/she has to be of great integrity and famous.
Here are the names that have been proposed.
- Peter Munya
Peter Munya is the current CS for Agriculture. In 2017 he contested as Meru Governor but was defeated by Kiraitu Murungi.
Being a running mate of Raila,Munya is expected to woo Meru and Mount Kenya votes.He is a no nonsense leader who has over 50% chances of becoming the running mate.
- Kalonzo Musyoka
Kalonzo Musyoka deputized Raila in 2013 and 2017, they both lost. This time around, he stands slim chances of deputizing Raila.There are signs that Raila has already settled on a different person other than Kalonzo.The former Vice President was paid to join Azimio and he has been promised a Senior position in government.
- Martha Karua
Martha Karua has over 70% chances of becoming Raila’s running mate. Being a woman, she is best suited to become Azimio running mate.Martha, who is the Narc Kenya party leader, does not have graft record and her integrity is excellent.
Expect Martha Karua or Peter Munya as the next Deputy President.
- Ali Hassan Joho
Ali Hassan Joho’s name has also been proposed as Raila’s running mate. But his chances of deputizing Raila are very slim.Even without Hassan Joho’s support Raila will still get over 60% of votes from Coast.
