Presidential aspirants Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka are engaged in crunch talks that could see them reunite by May 30.
It has emerged that, despite Kalonzo declaring his presidential bid and unveiling his running mate on Monday, he could shelve his ambition and support Raila should the negotiations succeed.
Tellingly, Wiper has not moved to court to disengage from Azimio as they had earlier threatened.
Kalonzo’s troops have also refrained from attacking Raila, in what some insiders said could be instructions from the party ranks.
President Uhuru Kenyatta and Kanu chairman Gideon Moi are part of the crucial talks that only include the top leaders.
Uhuru and Raila are persuading Kalonzo to accept the choice of Martha Karua as the coalition’s presidential running mate and take chief minister position.
Kalonzo is said to have softened his stance on Raila’s choice of Karua and demands amendment of the Azimio Coalition agreement to capture the chief minister post in the document.
Few days to come, the Wiper leader will re-join Azimio and take his Prime Minister position.
