Here is a list of Kenyan celebrities who are gay:

  1. Willis Chimano

Chimano is part of Sauti Sol music which is one of the best bands we have in Kenya. He came out about his sexuality, claiming he was a weird child when growing up. He no longer shy’s away from his sexuality; this brought him under fire on social media with Kenyans fans who did not agree with his decision. Nowadays Chimano dresses freely without having to hide who he is.

  • Noti Flow

She publicly declared that she is into women in her sexual orientation. Noti Flow is among the controversial artistes in Kenya; she had a short term relationship with Vennesa Chettle and has in the past released videos in support of LGBTQ community.

  • Makena Njeri

She is a lesbian who is proud of her sexuality, Makena once said she was depressed for three months, but she told herself she needed to be bold. Her decision on coming out publicly about her sexuality has made some of her family members and friends become strangers in her life. Makena is also a former Tahidi High actress a famous television series from back in the day.

  • Late Edwin Chiloba

He was a student at Moi University in Eldoret. Edwin was an LGBTQ activist and a fashionista. He was murdered by his lover under unknown circumstances. The suspects were arrested and taken to court.

  • Dennis Karuri

He is a popular make-up artist in Kenya, referred as the best. Dennis has been able to dominate the industry popularly known for women. Despite being criticized for his dressing on the social media, Dennis is proudly gay.

  • Silas Miami

He is one of the best film makers we have although he lives in South Africa. Silas has previously posted his Caucasian lover on his social media handle declaring how happy he is with his lover/life.

  • Brenda Jones

She is popularly referred to as ‘mama Kingston’ she revealed she is gay in year 2021 on her social media platforms to let her fans know of her sexuality. After publicly making a video to share her sexual orientation, her then lover cheated on her hours later.

  • Audrey Mbugua

Back in the day it was reported that Audrey preferred being female despite being born as a male. Audrey is gay and part of the LGBTQ community. He was the first personality in Kenya to declare he was gay.

  • Binyavanga Wainaina

He is the late award winning and a prolific writer in his own right. In the year 2014 he came out publicly to announce he was a homosexual this is after the attacks that were happening to gay people. Wainaina also revealed he was HIV positive. He died in the year 2019.

He opened up in an interview saying he always knew he was gay, and that he tried praying and fasting about it while in 3rd year of college, but the feelings and emotions did not go away, later on he met a girl in campus whom they have a child together.  They are still together but do not live together.
