Opposition leader Raila Odinga has stopped opposing the government. The veteran politician, who will retire in 2027, has officially agreed to join Ruto’s sinking government after heavy persuasion. The Enigma told his close allies that his main aim is to help Ruto’s government from sinking and also win the AU post.

Why Raila joined the government

The opposition leader is bitter about Uhuru Kenyatta and Mount Kenya. They promised to give him presidency but did nothing. He felt cheated. He believes that Ruto is a genuine friend who can help him benefit immensely. Raila has worked with him before and he knows that the President doesn’t betray his friends.

The demonstrations happening at the moment may sink the government. But since Raila is with Ruto, his people are peaceful. If they had joined other demonstrators, Ruto could be having difficult time stopping them. Those demonstrating at the moment are only confined in Mount Kenya and some parts of Nairobi. For the first time Mathare and Kibra are not demonstrating.

What next for Raila

Raila has already submitted 5 names to be announced by President Ruto to be part of the cabinet. He also hopes that Ruto will help him win the AU seat.Ruto will announce his full cabinet this week.

Raila will not contest for president in 2027, he will instead support President Ruto to be reelected for the second term. He will then retire peacefully.

What about opposition

The opposition will remain with Kalonzo Musyoka and Mount Kenya leaders. Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua will also join them. In 2027 the race will be Ruto against Kalonzo.

What about Gen Z

The Gen Z demonstrations will die slowly and eventually everyone retreat to their tribe. Already there are divisions among the Gen Zs.However,in 2027 most of them will vote against President Ruto.
