Professor Isaac Sanga Kosgey is a Professor of Animal Sciences, specializing in Animal Breeding and Genetics.

He has risen through the ranks in academia, serving in various capacities.

Professor Isaac career

Professor Isaac Sanga Kosgey currently serves as the Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Moi University, based in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County.

He was appointed VC on March 20, 2018, succeeding Professor Laban Ayiro, who held the position in an acting capacity.

Prior to his appointment as VC, Kosgey served as Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academic and Research from August 12, 2015, to January 4, 2016, and as Acting Dean of the Institute of Arid Lands Management from May 9, 2012, to October 23, 2014, at Laikipia University.

Kosgey has also worked as an Associate Professor of Animal Sciences, specializing in Animal Breeding and Genetics, at Egerton University from May 1, 2010, to October 22, 2014.

Additionally, he served as Deputy Principal for Administration, Planning, and Development at Laikipia University College, a constituent college of Egerton University, from October 3, 2011, to February 20, 2013.

From September 11, 2006, to September 10, 2010, he was Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture at Egerton University.

He also held roles as Departmental Time-Tabling Officer and Examinations Officer from 2004 to 2005, and as Chair of the Department of Animal Sciences from October 24, 2005, to September 10, 2006, at Egerton University.

Isaac holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Animal Sciences and a Master of Science degree in Animal Sciences with Distinction from Wageningen University in the Netherlands.

Additionally, Kosgey holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Kenyatta University.

He also earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Production with First Class Honours and a Diploma in Animal Husbandry with Distinction, both from Egerton University in Njoro, Nakuru County.

The university head also has a Bachelor of Laws degree with Second Class Honours (Upper Division) from the Open University of Tanzania in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Kosgey further holds a Diploma in Law with Distinction from Mt. Kenya University in Thika.
